China Unicom to Build Information Exchange Center in Nanning
NANNING, Feb 25, 2011 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- China Unicom (Hong Kong) Ltd. (NYSE: CHU, SEHK: 0762, and SHSE: 600050) yesterday inked a framework agreement with the local government of Guangxi Autonomous Region on the joint construction of the China-ASEAN regional information exchange center.
In the future two to three years, China Unicom will put more than CNY 3 billion in building a calling center, an international Internet data storage center and an international could computing center in Nanning, the capital city of Guangxi, making the city an important global communications center oriented to members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN).
The local government of Guangxi will provide support for the construction of the China-ASEAN regional information exchange center in terms of policy and service guarantee.
Telecom experts point out that the China-ASEAN regional information exchange center will greatly improve the communications capacity and quality between China and the ASEAN, bolster up the development of local software, information, Internet of things and outsourcing service industries and consolidate the leading status of China in the Asia Pacific communications market.
